What is IUDM?

Indiana University Dance Marathon is an annual event hosted each fall on the campus of IU. Over 1600 dancers come together to dance for 36 hours straight to dance for those who can't. Every dancer and committee member gives up their entire weekend for the event which goes from 8 PM on Friday to 8 AM the following Sunday. All money received goes directly to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Over 700 committee members make up the 15 committees which work year-round to make IUDM as incredible as it is. IUDM is planned out and run entirely by IU students like me and is also the second largest student-run organization IN THE NATION. Over the past 22 years, we have raised over  a total of 14 million dollars and aren't slowing down anytime soon! Watch the video to the right to get a better idea!

During the actual marathon, dancers go to different events with their color team including learning the infamous 10 minute long line dance created and taught by the Morale committee (that's me!), playing games, dancing, competitions and challenges, and here dozens of Riley kids and their families tell their stories of hope. This marathon wouldn't exist without the dedication and countless hours put into by the student committee members and dancers. But with the help and support of family and friends we're able to make this marathon a life-changing and inspiring event for everyone involved and help the lives of thousands of kids and their families.

Here's a video of the 2012 Linedance. I'm now a part of the Morale Committee which will create the dance for next year!
